About

We think the neighbourhood should keep its restaurants.

DineOra exists because ordering food online stopped being about the restaurant. We are trying to put the restaurant back in the middle of it.

A neighbourhood high street of independent restaurants

Why we started

Independent restaurants run on thin margins and long hours. Over the last decade a set of apps arrived that were genuinely useful, they brought new people through the door, and then became the only way in, including for the customers a restaurant had spent years earning.

That is the part that never made sense to us. A regular who has eaten at the same place every Friday for six years should not cost that restaurant anything to serve.

What we build

An ordering page that belongs to the restaurant. Their name on it, their menu, their prices, and the diner's details going to them rather than to us. We handle the technical parts nobody wants to think about: reading the menu, taking the payment, getting the order onto a screen in a loud kitchen.

How we work

In person, one neighbourhood at a time. We show up between lunch and dinner, build the menu on the spot, and stay until the first live order has come through. It does not scale quickly and that is fine, it is the only way to get it right for the first hundred restaurants.
